A woman beat her son with a coat hanger, and is using the Indiana Religious Freedom Act to try to avoid punishment. The Washington Post knows what graphics go with the story:
I know, this is their excuse for the Bible picture, and her excuse for the beating:
Her Christian beliefs were the “guiding values” that influenced her behavior when she punished her son on Feb. 3, according to the motion to dismiss filed by her attorney, Greg Bowes.
It also cited verses from Proverbs 23:13-14: “Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you strike him with a rod, he will not die. If you strike him with the rod, you will save his soul from Sheol.”
Never mind that Christians across America are appalled at any violence against children, or that we are taught by Jesus to cherish young people. This is the same media which has a hard time figuring out why Mohammed Ali Mohammed al Shabib Ali from Saudi Arabia shot up a supermarket. I just made up that name.
Never mind that her defense will fail.
When was the last time you saw a Koran in a news story? Ever?
