I Have A Friend Who is Starting a Church

And he posted this to Facebook.  I ‘whited out’ the name of the church, just so nobody pesters him based upon my article.  What do you think?

Church

I don’t remember posters at St. Augustine’s Church with this message.  He’s not going to attract anybody with closed minds.  I think specifically offering love and attention to others shows an excellent understanding of Christ’s message.

On the other hand, the last thing you need at a pot luck dinner is an anarchist.

  1. The idea of an ‘all-inclusive’ church is in fact the very heart of God’s intentions for the universal ‘Body of Christ’. However, as was alluded to in another reply, “there will always be someone you offend, upset, rile-up, etc”. Behaviors & life-styles are matters for which the true beliver must exercise godly tolerance in love, while balancing that with spiritual discernment. Many things are not to be tolerated, as evidenced by scripture’s narrative regarding the man who had relations with his mother-in-law & was delivered “to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.” – 1Cor. 5: 1-8. WE must be inclusive yet always careful NOT to allow ‘old leven’ to spoil the lump! A final thought about a proper attitude towards sinners. Jesus always ‘catches’ His fish 1st & then ‘cleans’ them. Sometimes the process of ‘cleansing’ is longer in some than others. Best to leave ‘cleansing’ to Jesus & remember always: ““Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye” – Mt. 7:1-5.
